Basement Bliss
I have been thinking a lot about how to beautify our home some more this year. Since we moved here from another city, we have made improvements on the house already, but so much more have to be done.
If I were to choose, I would rather that our family would have a house of our own. Of course houses are not cheap these days so I need to do some major saving up. It would also be great if our house would have a basement. Basement tiles are an added cost, but they sure are worth it. Having a quiet time with myself or hubby at a beautifully furnished basement would be great!
Avoiding Water Leaks
One thing that really annoys me is water leakage. No matter where it is – in the bathroom, kitchen sink, outside the house – I really find leaks frustrating. On top of that, they also cause my water bills to skyrocket. But the thing with them is that they are sometimes hard to detect. It’s happened to the house once before, there was a leak in the bathroom and it took ages before the plumber found where the leak was coming from.
That’s why I’m actually thinking if we can use teflon hose for the bathrooms and kitchen in the house in CDO. As you all know, it’s being renovated right now and I’m actually contemplating on having the flexible hose in the bathroom changed to Teflon as it is stronger and more durable.
Such a hose is especially constructed to withstand strong pressure. So I really think it would be prudent to use it for the house. That is if it can be used for bathrooms and kitchens. That’s something I would have to check on.
Chandelier or Basic Fluorescent?
There is still a long way to go before the renovation of the house is completed. However, I’m already trying to decide whether or not I should buy chandeliers or just stick to basic fluorescent bulbs. I have this thing about lights and I want my house to be always bright. For me, a bright house is a happy and lively house.
Besides, I know that home lighting is very essential in creating the entire mood of the house. That’s why I’m in over my head trying to choose between chandeliers and plain bulbs. You know how those houses in architectural magazines look magnificent because of the huge chandeliers hanging from their ceilings? I sort of want to achieve that look for my house.
However, I know that they would immensely add to my light bills. So I guess I’d just have to stick to energy-saving bulbs for the house. Anyway I can always buy decorative covers for the lights.
Green House Cleaning Products
People are aware that most of the healthy foods come from various green veggies and foods. To be healthy, a person must maintain eating nutritious and safe foods. With everyday of these, one can truly achieve a healthy lifestyle.
Now, there’s a corresponding thing we can infer with these – the green cleaning products. Every day, we want to make our houses clean. But the thing is how can we make it safe when children are around? As the technology increasingly progressing, many ingredients are being extracted from safe sources such as plants and trees as main sources of the best green cleaning products to be used in houses, offices, for dishes and everywhere nowadays. My friend suggested to me that green cleaning products are good because they can avoid the excessive use of chemicals and toxic formulas that some non-green products contain. Aside from that, she added that it would be the best to ensure that children are safe from toxic elements.
Keeping the House Safe for Kids
Having children at home means you need to be more extra careful. You need to baby proof your house and even be ready in case accidents happen.
As for me, I always make sure that there are no choking hazards for my baby and no sharp objects lying around. I also make sure that I have a first aid gadgets stored in case of emergencies. Since I don’t have a place to put my first aid kit and medicines, I was hoping to buy a Robern Medicine cabinet. I believe keeping it organize is also a way of being prepared!
