Radar Detectors

Most of the people driving in the US use radar detectors to keep track of their speeds. They want to monitor it before getting ticketed by highway patrollers.

Anyway, what is a radar detector? According to Mr. Wiki, a radar detector is a passive electronic device used by motorists to detect if their speed is being monitored by aradar unit. Most radar detectors are used so the driver can reduce the car’s speed before being ticketed for speeding. Only doppler radar-based devices can be detected — other speed measuring devices including those using ANPR, piezo sensors, and VASCAR technology cannot be detected. LIDAR devices require a different type of sensor, although many modern detectors include LIDAR sensors. Most of today’s radar detectors detect signals across a variety of wavelength bands: usually X, K, and Ka. In Europe the Ku band is common as well.

Great Book for Budget Travellers

My hubby and I planned to travel with the family someday. He said that we should plan our travel and save for it. We always wanted to see different places both local and abroad.

Anyway, since we are future budget travelers, it is an utmost importance that we should know our destination very well to avoid waste of money. Though there are many travel websites and blogs out there, it always pays to know what to expect in a certain place since most of this sites advertise but does not tell you the truth.

Just this month Peter Greenberg of www.petergreenberg.com launched his book entitled “Don’t Go There.” This book is a compilation of places around the world that warns you not to go or visit certain places because it would surely waste your money and some may even be a threat to your life.

In my own opinion, books like this are certainly a great buy. It tells you the truth and gives you a due warning before hand thus making it easier to book and travel to desirable and worry-free destinations. Like us, we are planning to bring the children along, so it’s not good that we expose them to health threatening environments.

Anyway, I believe that Peter Greenberg did a good thing for travelers like me!
