Health Threatening Raptiva
Just like in the US, their Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recently released a warning to the general public about a drug called Raptiva. This drug was approved to be used for psoriasis, “…a chronic immune-system disease which causes thick, red, scaly patches to appear on the surface of the skin,” in October 2003. But from the recent study, it showed the Raptiva is linked to cause the sickness called progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML). Aside from that, it also have shown indication that it can also cause meningitis, immune-mediated hemolytic anemia, and other life-threatening infections. The worst part is, two people have been reported to have died because of PML, a Raptiva side effects. So, imagine people expecting to be healed from their diseases ends up dying because of developing more severe sicknesses due to taking dangerous drugs. Isn’t that so saddening? Good thing in the US, people who have taken dangerous drugs like Raptiva PML can do legal actions about this. They can fight for their right!

You clearly haven’t suffered with debilitating psoriasis if you say that Raptiva made people more sick and caused more damage than the good it did. It’s true that in 3 cases, it made 3 people more sick and caused more damage. But that is only 3 cases … out of who knows how many people taking it all over the world. I tried everything available for more than a decade, and the only medication that worked to get me back to functioning like a real person is Raptiva. It gave me my life back. Until there are better medications available, it may very well be worth the risk to some people to be able to live normal lives, given that, based on what we know now, this risk is apparently miniscule.
