Republic Act No. 10054, also known as the Motorcycle Helmet Act was signed into law on March 23, 2010. This law states that all motorcycle riders, including drivers and back riders, are required to wear standard protective motorcycle helmets at all times while driving, whether long or short drives, in any type of road and highway. I am very much in favor of this law because it serves as a protective measure against vehicular accidents. Since the implementation of this law, sellers of helmets have sprouted like mushroom, they sell different kinds of helmets, the locally made and the imported ones, womens motorcycle helmets, even those for children. I just hope that the government will strictly implement this law and will really impose sanctions and penalize the violators.
