Wash Your Hands
It is seldom that we seem a sign “Wash Your Hands” at the toilet. Of if ever there are, sometimes the faucet is not working, or there is no soap available at public toilets.
My friend says that in America, every public or commercial establishment has a sign in their toilets that say “Employees should wash hands with soap and warm water after using the toilet.” With that reminder, you would feel safe that at least Americans are really concerned about sanitation and food safety.
But what about here in the Philippines? Does that mean that our food handlers are not washing their hands? I just try to console myself that maybe they are washing their hands in the kitchen because I presume that there is a sink with running water and soap there. Que horror! No wonder we are called the third world and diseases that get passed on courtesy of hand to mouth contact. When will we get out of this and be concerned with health and safety?
